The menu is more than affordable in comparison to anything in a five mile radius. Its a breakfast/lunch take-out or delivery 'stand' in the downtown courthouse district of Lauderdale. The meats, cheese and toppings are above average across the board and the bread is super soft with the corn meal crumble on the bottom. I did not have the philly steak either time i visited like the other reviewers so i cant comment on the amount of steak. In any event, supporting a local business that makes great food, quickly, day in and day out is worth trying for yourself. Drinks, Chips, and Seating is limited so plan your trip at a wise time of day.

I LOVE eating at Mr. Nick's my son's pediatrician is right up the street and I stop here every time he has a doctor's appointment. I always get the chicken salad sandwich sub and it is delish! My favorite little hole in the wall.

WOW.... Great Sub, Great Menu. The only issue is deciding between the Philly, Original Sub, or one of the specialty Subs. Bread was good too.

good cheese steak. added lettuce and tomato, no extra charge. and tax is included in prices. so very good steak sand for only 6.25 will definitely go back when near by

Decent quick bite to eat. While I was waiting for my chicken sandwich to be prepared, I went next door to the bar that was open at 9 a.m., to go to the bathroom. Nick apparently does not have a bathroom - there were way too many people in the bar next door considering the time of that. Upon returning to Nicks I found my chicken sandwich I've been prepared it was actually a pretty decent meal for quick bite to eat in the morning - just a few bucks. I would recommend Nicks if you want to grab a quick bite to eat, however my most intriguing moment of the meal was noting the crowd inside the bar next door...might just have to have a good morning beer

I used to always used to order the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich from here when I used to work downtown and it was always at our office within 15 minutes and always tastes great and at $5 you can't go wrong!

I've worked downtown for years and I get Mr. Nick's at least once a week. They are AMAZING!!! Kinda like a hole in the wall shop but those are usually the best! I've had the cheeseburger, Fort Lauderdale chicken, chicken cordon bleu but my favorite is the Full house cheese steak. Onions, cheese, mushrooms, green peppers. Its really good size portions 6" or 12". Try them if your ever nearby!!!!!!

Hands down best subs in ft lauderdale. I eat here twice a week. Everything on the menu is delicious! I order delivery and they are always quick fast and the subs are fresh and delicious!

Old reliable spot for pick up or delivery, been stopping in here for years. Parking is easy and getting in and out is always uncomplicated. Would not suggest eating there if a spotless clean table is important to you. Food on the other hand is wonderful. Potato salad is my #1 favorite in Fort Lauderdale, great submarine sandwiches - super soft bread, I mean the bread is really noteworthy it's so fresh, and they stay really busy so everything is fresh too. Cheese steaks are great and they have a Chicken with cheese and mushrooms, green peppers and onions that they saute in broth that's delicious. Prices are good and if you order the special it comes with a drink and chips which puts it a couple bucks under the norm. Good food, good value.

Omg... Happened to run into this place over lunch break and it was SO good!!! Was going to have a salad (bah!) but ended up getting the cheesesteak special. I was weak! But boy was it worth every calorie!! Bread was soft and fresh and it was just an all around delish cheese steak sandwich. For $8 special came with half a sub, potato salad and a soda. The potato salad was really tasty also! Seating is outdoors, so don't so what I did and eat there if you're wearing all black suiting. Can't wait to come back and try the cold subs too!

So today at my office we decided to find a nice local restaurant for lunch and came across this hidden cheesesteak gem!! We placed the order over the phone and told us it would be ready within 15 minutes, we didn't get someone to pick it up until after 30 minutes so we thought the sandwiches would be cold... WRONG! They had the order ready to be prepared as soon as we got there, so when our pick up guy got there they made all 3 of our subs right off the grill so we would get a fresh sandwich, what amazing service. I went with the Suzie Q cheesesteak which had cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo... Yeah I know, I'm drooling right now too. The sub was amazing, not over packed with topping to cover the taste of the steak, everything stayed together in the sub and the taste... Out of this world. Every 12" sub is $10 so it's not that bad for lunch during the work week. We definitely took a menu back to the office for our "what to have for lunch" pile :)

Blissfully unpretentious. Much like the rest of Fort Lauderdale that isn't located on Ass Holas Boulevard. A great place for a quick lunch downtown, worth the drive if you're north of the river. The food is very fresh, and very satisfying. The potato salad alone is worth ordering. I've had the meatball sub (above and beyond anyone else's in Fort Lauderdale), a Suzy Q (like a secret hookup between a cheesesteak and a bacon cheeseburger that they agree never to mention to anyone) and Fort Lauderdale Chicken, all of which were eaten completely in record time by me, at my desk, with a pile of napkins.

My first time (and I live in Ft Lauderdale 25 years) service was pleasant and quick. I had the Italian Sub. Stocked full of meats and the sub roll was soft. I will definitely be going back

1st timer and it was awesome. The softest bread I have ever had for a sandwich. Everything was really fresh and well priced. Definitely will be a repeat customer

I Yelped to find someplace close enough to walk to from KCW and was rewarded by this jewel. Used the call ahead tip to order my lunch before I left and my Sammie was waiting for me when I got there two songs on my playlist later. It was a cool day so the walk was nice. When I got there I forgot the soup and was pleasantly surprised that there were no lines no waiting (11:45ish). French onion soup was prepared in less than 3 min. and I was on my way back to the office. Started with the soup. First spoonful was amazing. Good flavor, a bit of cheese and bread and onion all together. Then I couldn't find the cheese. I thought maybe it was melted into the soup. I found it at the end in the bottom of the bowl. No so good. The onions were in dices instead of slices the way I prefer, but that's my personal taste. The flavor overall was good. Onto the Sammie - chicken parm. I got the 6" which was BIG considering I just ate the soup. Those of you with smaller appetites would find this sammich large. Chicken was moist and the sauce was very flavorful - not too salty. Bread was a little wet, but that's what happens when you wrap a hot sandwich in foil, put it in your purse and take it for a walk. A little pricey at $10 for lunch with tip - next time I'll have either soup or sandwich, but not both. The other half of the sandwich will be a delicious snack!

Limited review based on two sandwiches but we really enjoyed them. First for the decor, there does not seem to be any inside seating but there is covered patio seating. This place is more of a hole in the wall and not fancy; so be forewarned if you're looking for ambiance. The location is across the street from the park which is really convenient for a quick bite or to have an impromptu picnic as we did. You order at a window and the sandwiches are made to order. We got the BLT and the pizza steak. The quality of both was quite good. The bread is a soft white hoagie roll. They stuff their sandwiches with a good quantity of tasty ingredients. The BLT is pretty straight forward but they do load it with crispy bacon and use fresh veggies. The proportion works well. The pizza steak is a cheese steak with onions, cheese and pizza sauce. I was confident it would not taste bad when I ordered it, but the sandwich exceeded my expectations. It was extremely tasty and well prepared. We enjoyed our stop here and will likely be back; not an every day thing, but most likely another future impromptu picnic!

If you have not been to this awesome neighborhood joint, then you are missing out on good food, good portions and good food, oh wait I said that, just wanted to emphasis that is all. I go here almost every morning for a Breakfast sandwich. They are so good that I start thinking about them as soon as I leave to house to go to work. Eggs, bacon, cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms is my breakfast sandwich but I ask for it on a wrap and they always accommodate me and don't get me started on their lunch, it is fabulous....they also have specials every day with one main item, a side and a drink and its always at a really good price. If you have not been, you better go. Its a diamond in the ruff. I have nothing but rave reviews for Mr. Nick's Sub Shoppe. Peace & Love!

YUM! My brother had told us about this small place and we decided to stop by on the way to the beach. I think they had great prices for the quality of cold cuts they use and the amount of meat they put in the sub! We ordered the Italian subs, delicious! BRead was very fresh, cold cuts great quality meat, cheese was good, and the veggies were also very fresh. Wish it was closer to have it for lunch right now! They also had an offer if you check in on facebook they would give you a free cookie, we tried the chocolate chip and macademia and they were pretty good! Can't wait to go back for a fresh sub this weekend on our way to the beach! FYI-all the seating is outdoor, which was fine by us. They dont have waiter service, you order at a pick up window and get your subs when they're ready.

These reviews must be paid for. Me and some coworkers went to this place. The cheesesteak was luke warm and not good at all. The meat was processed and the cheese tasted like government cheese. Other coworkers got cold subs and said the meat tasted cheap and was almost inedible. Beware. Gross food...these people could not even beat a gas stations pre made sandwiches.

This place is right off Andrews with minimal parking and kind of dirty grungy old school fort laudy feel. If you can get passed that....and the crazy midday drunks next door.....it's not so bad. I had the Italian foot long, meats where nothing special but the bread and toppings gave it the extra needed flavor. Over all this place is a good sub shop...12 bucks for a sub chips and coke....a bit steep but hey I was hungry. Enjoy

Had the cheese steak sandwich, traditional nice sub! No surprises. Next time I'll ask for toasted bread... Great pricing, get the lemonade! Solid relaxed client line up, where a majority go for the 12"...y

I've been eating at Mr. Nicks for years, the food is solid with a mix of sandwiches that will surprise you for such a plain looking building, one of my favorite is the Fort Lauderdale chicken sandwich, Its a grilled / breaded chicken sub with white american cheese, bacon and creamy Italian dressing, you can't top that. Along with that they have soups, salads along with other daily specials. The chicken salad is great, they are also open for breakfast, when my office was downtown sometimes I would order breakfast deliveried, the breakfast burritos are to die for. Overall, parking can be tricky and they get quite busy during lunch time (deservedly so) so I would call ahead to order. I highly recommend Mr. Nicks for a real taste of Fort Laudedale. Also its is a locally owned business not a huge corporate chain.

This place never disappoints. Lunch time is crazy so order ahead if possible. Their wraps and sandwiches are always fresh. $5.00 for a spinach salad or $8.00 for a wrap, potato salad and drink, you can't go wrong. No wonder they've been around forever! Ps: parking can be a little tricky.

Was looking for a good cheese-steak and read reviews on the Broward New Times which gave a Best of 2009 to, and I quote them, "Good cheese steaks can be made even if they hail from a Fort Lauderdale street corner, where Mr. Nick's has crafted them for more than 30 years. The bread is just right -- slightly elastic, cushy, and yeasty -- while the meat has all the hallmarks of great cheese-steakery: quality beef cooked to order on a searing hot griddle. Mr. Nick's also employs a secret strategy -- using a garlicky spice mixture that, along with the gooey cheese, melts right into the meat. The result is a juicy, cheesy, beefy jumble that hits all the right notes -- even if there is no can of Cheez Whiz in sight." I concur so when I am craving a gooey cheese steak this is where I go. Just make sure you get there before 4pm because that's when they close. Have had a few of the other sammies but the cheese steak is what I go for and just to let you know, It is outside only and a walk up counter. You order, you pay and there are a few tables and chairs under a covered awning where you can sit and eat.

some of the best subs around in fort lauderdale...period!!

My favorite place to grab a cheesesteak in Ft. Lauderdale. Can't speak too much on anything else they make because I've only ordered this one sub. Not too expensive and they should really think about branching out and running a foodtruck downtown late at night as it would be phenomenal drunk food!

I have recently discovered this GEM and I LOVE it!!! Not only are the subs melt-in-your-mouth DELICIOUS, the salads are fresh, and the French onion soup is excellent. All of this is great but I have to say that one of the best parts about Nick's is the staff. The girl who answers the phone is so sweet, kind and helpful to someone who isn't sure which yummy item to order. She is patient and obviously loves where she works. She should. THey are doing this right and another great part??? They Deliver!! Bridget is very helpful on the phone and I love this place!

I absolutely love love love the cheese steak here! I have had it twice and I have to use careful will power to not go grab another one; especially since I live very close. Not to be confused with a Philly Cheese Steak, that is a very different sandwich. This is rather a Cheese Steak Sub...! A pile of steak (I did not find that it was skimpy as someone said in another review), a white cheese, with sauteed onion's and my favorite mushrooms. The bun is what makes the sandwich for me, spongy and not dry while still holding the meat well. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the prices are a bit high but I think the ingredients are much better than your area Subway (yuck!) Its a great location....eh hemmm next to a dive bar. They are only open during breakfast and lunch hours it seems (they have breakfast subs). I love that its one of those walk up, order and sit on a picnic table and eat kinda joints. Like a food truck that's not a truck....hint hint! The staff is super nice and didn't give me hell or a roll of the eyes when I pulled my classic "dump of my change because I forgot to zip up my wallet act." In fact doing so just ended in me giving them more tip money. Definitely different from the "heroes" I get in NYC....just a different taste in my opinion.

Mr nicks is a courthouse area lunch spot. Its def the place to go when u need a quick sandwich, soda, and a bag of chips. The staff is really nice, they always get the order right, and the servings are large. Prices are def affordable. In terms of taste, the food is ok. It isnt gourmet and it isnt bad. Most ppl go there for the cheesesteaks, which are decent. If u need a quick bite near the courthouse, this is a decent place to go to.
